We are pleased to announce an IEEE Transactions on Biometrics, Behavior, and Identity Science (T-BIOM) Special Issue on Identity-Centric Foundation Models for Trustworthy Biometric Recognition. This special issue focuses on identity-centric foundation models for trustworthy biometric recognition. It seeks new methods, evaluations, and security mechanisms for identity representation, identity reasoning, identity recognition, and trustworthy deployment, while critically examining when and why foundation models outperform, complement, or underperform conventional large vision models and task-specific biometric approaches.
This special issue, closing 30 Dec. 2026, welcomes original submissions from the international biometrics, computer vision, multimodal learning, and AI security communities, as described in more detail in the Call For Papers. A limited number of top-quality papers from the 20th Chinese Conference on Biometric Recognition may be invited to submit substantially extended versions. Such submissions will receive no preferential treatment, must contain at least 30% new technical contributions as required by IEEE T-BIOM.
