The Biometrics Council is pleased to honor Dr. Akshay Agarwal with the Best Doctoral Dissertation Award for 2021. Dr. Agarwal defended his dissertation, “Panoptic Defenses for Secure Computer Vision,” in December 2020 at IIIT-Delhi, India and was advised by Dr. Richa Singh and Dr. Mayank Vatsa. He received the Dean’s Award for Innovation, Research, and Development for two consecutive years in 2018 and 2019 at IIIT-Delhi. He has authored over thirty publications including journals and peer-reviewed conferences. Since graduating, Dr. Agarwal has worked as a research assistant professor at Texas A&M University, Kingsville, USA and is now a postdoctoral scientist at the University at Buffalo, NY, USA. Congrats Dr. Agarwal!

IEEE T-BIOM
The IEEE Transactions on Biometrics, Behavior, and Identity Science (T-BIOM) publishes original articles on all aspects of biometrics (i.e. recognizing people through their physiological or behavioral traits such as face, fingerprint, iris, and signature), including theory, applications, systems, and surveys.
Conferences
The council supports several conferences and scientific gatherings on biometrics including The IEEE International Joint Conference on Biometrics (IJCB), IEEE conference series on Automatic Face and Gesture Recognition (FG) and more.
Chapters
The IEEE Biometrics Council has several (joint) chapters as well as student branch chapters worldwide and is growing. The local biometrics chapters propose and organize a wide variety of technical activities related to biometrics to serve local young researchers, academics as well as industrial professionals.
