The IEEE Biometrics Council invites nominations for a Webinar Chair.

The Council is dedicated to advancing the science and technology of biometrics, including automated recognition based on physiological and behavioral characteristics such as fingerprints, facial features, iris patterns, voice, and gait. The IEEE Biometrics Council serves as a forum for professionals from academia, industry, and government to exchange information and promote research, development, and education in biometrics.

Role Overview

The Webinar Chair leads the planning and execution of the IEEE Biometrics Council webinar program, facilitating high-quality technical and community engagement events that reflect the Council’s mission and priorities.

Typical Responsibilities

The duties of the Webinar Chair include, but are not limited to, the following activities:

  • Developing and maintaining a webinar plan and schedule, including topic planning and speaker outreach.
  • Coordinating webinar logistics such as platform setup, rehearsal arrangements, and event moderation.
  • Ensuring timely promotion and dissemination of webinar information through appropriate Council communication channels.
  • Supporting post-webinar activities, including archiving materials or recordings when applicable and consistent with IEEE policies.
  • Collecting feedback and tracking basic webinar metrics to support program improvement.

Nomination Package Requirements

Each nomination email should include the following information:

  1. Candidate name and contact information
  2. IEEE member information (if available, include IEEE member number and IEEE Region)
  3. Position nominated for (Webinar Chair)
  4. A brief biography including relevant professional background and any IEEE, Council, or other volunteer experience
  5. A short statement of interest describing the candidate’s vision and priorities for the role
